Project Update February 2018

Its proving to a be a long Winter in terms of this project but Spring is on the way!

We have received news from our archaeologists that they have prepared draft reports for the two main sites that were worked on during the Summer and Autumn and that these will be published on a site by site basis.

It seems definite that so far we have not found any evidence of Roman occupation in Sunderland at the sites but what has been found is evidence of the rich history of Sunderland from Medieval to Industrial Revolution and the story of the importance of the River Wear in the development of industries for which Sunderland became a synonym;

Shipbuilding, potteries and glass making.

As the Project goes into the next phase we will keep you up to date with progress and developments and how you can become involved.
