As part of the Project we have opportunities available for volunteers to become involved in research days looking at the old documents directly related to the River Wear and the Brig Stones.
Wardell Armstrong LLP (Archaeologists) have confirmed the first research opportunity date as Tuesday 4th April 2017 at 10:00-11:30am for a maximum of 15 people.
Location : Tyne and Wear Archives, Blandford Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4JA
Anyone wishing to look in the searchroom after the session should bring proof of name, and address and signature with them. A driving licence is ideal, but they do accept other forms of ID such as:
– A utility bill or bank statement
– Credit or debit card
– Passport (not sufficient on its own as doesn’t include an address)
Volunteers should be prepared to write only in pencil, and to put their belongings in lockers, except pencil, and paper to write on, if visiting the search room afterwards.
Here is a link to the archive catalogue should anyone want to check their holdings in preparation: https://twarchives.org.uk/collection/catalogue
Norman Kirtlan has collated the email addresses and contact details from volunteers who have given their details previously and were interested in the research sessions. He will be making contact by email soon to check on availability for this session.
However, if you feel that you would like to get involved and have not given your details as yet please would you contact Norman by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
